The Triumph Heritage Empowerment (THE) Party was originated by Member for Kandep and the current Opposition Leader Don Pomb Polye, and was launched five (5) months before the 2012 National Elections.
Despite being a newly formed party, THE Party entered parliament with fifteen (15) Members of Parliament; two (2) of which were female.
THE Party's policies are based on the Bible and the Constitution of Papua New Guinea. It values the five (5) National Goals and Directive Principles of the Constitution:
Integral human development
Equality and participation
National sovereignity and self-reliance
Natural resources and environment
Papua New Guinean ways.
THE Party's policies recognise these goals and directive principles as strategic guides, and established its own strategic approaches to achieving these objectives.
THE Party's policies come under eight (8) pillars:
Skills Industry Growth Strategy: integrates the other seven (7) policies and is aimed at developing PNG's non-renewable and export industries by applying the revenues of the extractive or non-renewable industries. It also introduces a Free Investment Zone (FIZ) sub-policy as an export and industrialisation approach or strategic step;
Integral Human Development: the development of skills. This policy covers the development of the Papua New Guinean as a whole person via education, personal viability, skills development, moral values, health and hygiene, discipline, entertainment/recreation, parenting and family responsibilities etc;
The Modernisation and Proficiency of the Public Service: transforming the public service into the most proficient, efficient and effective vehicle ever for delivery is paramount to implementing all government policies and the ideals of the Constitution of PNG;
Development and Growth of Money Culture-Debt/Capital Market Growth: THE Party firmly believes that to achieve the National Goals and Directive Principles of the Constitution from 1 to 5, we must first help to create the character, discipline, management skills and the culture of money in the mindsets of our citizens to aid them in transiting from a traditional based subsistence society to a monetary based society;
Development of Sustainable Socio-Economic Growth: this policy promotes achievement of all five (5) National Goals but more specifically, the second and third Directive Principles of the Constitution. THE Party's firm belief is that PNG's wealth and prosperity must be created, earned and shared through sweat, hard work and honesty. A sustainable economy must be developed and managed properly;
Self-Management and Body Care - Preventative Health and Personal Viability: this policy covers preventing illness, living a healthy lifestyle (diet and exercise), personal potential and achievement, weaknesses etc;
Management of Everyday Living-Multifaceted Daily Life Matters: this policy covers internal and external security of PNG in line with the third National Goal and Directive Principle, elimination of corruption and corrupt practices, strengthening of marital relationships and the family, suitable housing for the PNG family, global warming its effects and the need for carbon zinc, quality control and PNG's property rights, parliamentary democracy and political party discipline (PNG's democratic principles), population management and sustainable growth, gender equity and equality. All these policy issues are consistent to the five (5) National Goals and Directive Principles;
Development and Promotion of Foreign Relations and International Trade: the partnership that PNG has with other countries/economies is essential for our own socio-economic development as well as its global reputation. The need for repositioning PNG in these globally challenging times is crucial, and so the objective of its foreign policy with its bilaterals should be to befriend other nations for mutual benefit. This policy also covers diplomatic and economic relations, exploration of new markets for our SMEs and other industries, addressing terrorism, human trafficking, drug smuggling and other cross border crimes through strategic partnerships with other nations.
THE Party believes in freeing our people around PNG from all bondages such as poverty, unfairness, corruption and economic mismanagement.
We welcome all who believe in our principles and values.
As for us in THE Party we will serve our people by serving the Almighty God and fighting elements that are wrong!
